Conservatives are right — schools are turning students liberal
These are the exact college subjects that converted me
Books bans, school board takeovers, hostage university funding — these are some of the strategies the Republican Party has been deploying of late in effort to save our nation’s youth from the perils of “wokism.”
Now, I don’t know exactly what “woke” means to conservatives (apparently neither do they), but I’ll admit — there’s some merit to their claims.
Schools ARE turning students more liberal. And I’m a perfect example of this.
I was raised in a conservative Christian household. My parents were, and still are, single-issue anti-abortion voters, and they homeschooled me and my 10 siblings under the same ideology.
For a while, I held many similar views to them. I even voted for John McCain over Obama in 2008, the first year I was eligible to cast a ballot in a presidential election.
But around that time, something in my brain was changing; I had enrolled in college.
Today, I am pro-choice, LGBTQ-supporting ex-vangelical, and I have voted Democrat in every presidential election since 2008, making me a verified “woke libtard” in the eyes of many conservatives.
